Buying an Explorer

A completed Explorer comes with a cruising-weight mainsail and genoa and over £1,000–worth of fittings normally charged by manufacturers as optional extras, including:

• roller reefing
• main and genoa sliding sheet leads
• genoa uv strip
• ground-legs
• splitting oars

Construction time

Construction time for a completed Explorer is around 4 months. Mitchell Yachts’ manufacturing period is September to May, so it is preferable to place orders in early autumn for delivery before the following sailing season.

Ordering

An order can be placed with a deposit of 10 per cent. On receipt of the required deposit a model number will be assigned to the purchaser. Three equal instalments (one third of the remainder each) are then required:

1. upon commencing construction
2. on completing the hull
3. on delivery

Customers can inspect construction by appointment.

Test sail

Mitchell Yachts welcomes you to test-sail Explorer. This would normally be from Clovelly Harbour, North Devon, from May to October, though other times and locations may be possible by arrangement.
