A simple, small, lightweight yacht — the minimum necessary to get you where you want to go in speed and safety — opening up the adventure of independent exploration. The sea-going equivalent of a mountain bike and tent, Explorer is designed for exhilarating sailing, with ample storage space for cruising provisions, and a cabin for two.

Sea Trials

Tests since 2004 included lake trials, sea trials to F6, open class racing, a 160-mile cruise from Devon to Wales across the Bristol Channel, and a test report by Practical Boat Owner magazine.

Self-Build

Self-Build projects are quite feasible with a plywood single-chine hull. However there is a lot more to Explorer than a dinghy: there’s the cabin, hatch, lockers and heavier construction, particularly the load-bearing keel case. Therefore material costs and build time will be considerably greater. But you do end up with a small yacht!

Explorer provides a means of recreation and travel which is completely zero-emission. She can be used to explore the coasts of the Britain and Ireland, and by coastal hopping, even the continent.
